| Pursuing with Those |

From a very young age I realized that in order to have a normal and joyful Christian life I needed other Christians as my friends and fellow pursuers of Christ. The vitality and overall “health” of a Christian depends upon the fellowship or flow of life among believers, as pictured by the circulation of blood in your physical body. Every member (from head to little toe) is healthy when there is the normal circulation of blood in the body.
As a participant in Christian Students at UCI for the past two years, I can testify that every time I went to the Bible study I was encouraged, refreshed, enlightened, strengthened and drawn to love the Lord more than before. I received a fresh supply of life through reading and studying the Word of God in fellowship with other Christians. My involvement did not stop with just one Bible study every Wednesday at noon; rather I sought to meet with other students on campus for more informal times over lunch or a cup of coffee. These small gatherings were my salvation from daily anxieties that pressed upon me, and really met my need both humanly and spiritually. We could relate to one another, bring up difficulties we were going through, and could pray for one another. The Lord’s presence was so real and sweet; just as Matthew 18:20 says, “For where there are two or three gathered together in My name, there am I in their midst.”
The only way for me not only to survive as a Christian, but even more to grow in the Lord Jesus, is for me to be with those who love and pursue Him too. 2 Timothy 2:22 gives us the best way to be a healthy Christian enjoying the circulation, the flowing of God’s life: “But flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
