| An Oasis in a Desert |

One of my top experiences of Christ with Christian Students was meeting with some brothers over lunch to get into the Bible. Those times were really an oasis in a desert. My first year in graduate school proved to be a big challenge to me. I had to spend all my time and even the weekends studying and solving problems. My major was physics. Spiritually speaking this was a very dry time for me in the Lord. I desperately needed a supply from the Lord to keep my heart loving and pursuing Him.
By the Lord’s mercy, I set my heart to meet with some Christian brothers during my lunch break. I still remember many times barely dragging my body to meet the brothers for lunch. I would arrive for our meeting with my mind still wrapped around some physics problem I couldn’t yet solve. Yet as I started to fellowship about Christ and to open the Word of God all the tiredness, preoccupation and cares were just washed away. I enjoyed so much, simply drinking Christ as the Living water in His word to quench all my inner dryness. I would walk away from those lunch times so supplied and satisfied within.
I am so thankful to the Lord for providing me with some Christian brothers to have fellowship with on the UCI campus. Those informal lunchtime Bible studies really preserved me through the dry desert of graduate school. Christian Students really provided for me an oasis in a desert. Thank You Lord Jesus!
